Mastering the Dance of Growth, Transformation, and Innovation (2 of 3)
Using Change and Core Values as Stepping Stones to Success
A Values Based Vision as Your North Star (Cont’d)
Picture this: Instead of becoming entangled in the how's and methods, we begin by painting a rich, emotive picture of our desired destination. It's more than a mere projection of the future; it's an immersive experience, almost as if we've stepped into that envisioned tomorrow. By channeling the emotions tied to our deeply held values, we're not just mapping out goals but truly feeling the vibrancy and essence of the possibilities ahead. In doing so, we're not just chasing an endpoint but living and breathing the profound potential of our future.
Imagine beginning not with the how-to's but with the "how it feels." Instead of getting bogged down by tactics, we start by painting a vivid, emotion-driven vision of our goals. This vision, anchored in our core values, stirs a potent motivation from within. Powered by our imagination, brimming with courage and open-mindedness, we're transported to a realm of boundless potential, where the journey feels as real and invigorating as the destination. It's this clear, value-driven vision that lights our way, becoming our most influential guide and driver.
This approach crafts a compelling beacon, a north star, guiding us through any challenge or endeavor. It doesn't prescribe the tactics we employ, but instead, it broadens our horizons, opening us up to fresh opportunities as we strive to achieve remarkable goals. This is achieved by harnessing a process that hones our ability to identify and engage new potential through alignment with the essence of our values, and yet, it's not complex or convoluted - in fact, it's quite straightforward.
When we invest time to define, clarify, and utilize a vision rooted in our values, our actions and behavior are guided by what truly matters. This forms a personal and team-based foundation that enhances clarity and focus, fuels motivation and persistence, and fosters resilience and adaptability. All these elements converge to pave the way for greater long-term success. It's about aligning our journey with our the personal values held deeply inside of us, which creates a path that not only leads us into a beautiful future, it enriches the journey itself.
Being open to new possibilities, while moving forward from a clear and persistent stance that aligns with what we value, allows us to take advantage of entirely new ways of achieving our goal. We become flexible, adaptable, and open to change, which is a powerful state to be in.
A Small Up-Front Investment Transforms the Journey - and The Outcomes!
This approach allows us to be proactive rather than reactive, to be creators rather than victims of circumstance. It allows us to tap into a wellspring of potential that is often overlooked when we're too focused on the tactics and strategies of material circumstances.
So, as we embark on our journey towards achieving our goals, let's remember to align our vision with our personal values, to be open to new opportunities, and to embrace the journey as much as the future it offers us. In doing so, we unlock our true potential and open the door to a world of possibilities that were previously unimaginable. Embrace change, align with your values, and watch as you engage your greatest potential.

Activities for engaging the ideas in this post!
There is a wonderful book that I have not mentioned in the below book section, it’s called: The Desire Map: A Guide to Creating Goals with Soul by Danielle LaPorte. This is a practical look at values and what it means to switch from looking at things from a perspective that is overly objective.
This book is centered around the concept of core desired feelings, which are essentially the emotional states individuals most desire to experience in their lives. The book's process helps you recognize these feelings to guide decisions and intentions more effectively. Here's a basic outline of the primary exercise and process:
1. Reflection on Gratitude and Desires:
Begin by reflecting on moments in your life when you felt incredibly grateful. Consider what you were doing, who you were with, and how you felt.
Then, consider what you currently desire in different areas of your life. What are the experiences, feelings, or things you yearn for?
2. Exploring Five Life Areas:
LaPorte identifies five primary areas of life: Livelihood & Lifestyle, Body & Wellness, Creativity & Learning, Relationships & Society, and Essence & Spirituality.
For each area, she encourages readers to reflect on how they want to feel in that domain of their life.
3. Choosing Your Core Desired Feelings:
From the feelings generated in the previous step, identify those that resonate most deeply with you. These become your core desired feelings – the emotional states you most want to experience regularly.
These feelings might be ones like "connected," "joyful," "empowered," "free," or any other emotion that deeply resonates with the individual.
4. Setting Goals with Soul:
With your core desired feelings identified, the next step is to set goals or intentions that will help you achieve these feelings. For each core desired feeling, consider what actions or changes might help you experience that emotion more frequently.
This shift in goal-setting—from pursuing external achievements to pursuing desired feelings—creates a more aligned and fulfilling life.
5. Check-In and Reassess:
Life is ever-evolving, and so are we. LaPorte encourages regular check-ins with oneself. Do your core desired feelings still resonate? Are the goals you're pursuing bringing you closer to those feelings?
Enjoy!
BOOK SUGGESTION
This article, and its counterparts, focus on change as a naturally occurring phenomenon that our lives are innately intertwined with. This means that no matter how hard we try to avoid it, the unexpected will happen. To transform this such that change becomes a wave we ride, and enjoy, like a surfer on the ocean, values, and our life’s purpose or meaning, is an important factor that we must leverage. These books provide evidence based insights as to why we are wired the way we are and how to take action by putting this wisdom to work in our lives (see definition of Reading Levels below):
